Sophie (1/5)
Sophie
Jennie Sargam
I received a free reviewers copy of this book from netgalley.com. Thanks to LuLu Publishing and Jennie Sargam.
Sophie is a YA book about a high school senior named Sophie. Sophie is no ordinary high school senior however, because Sophie owns her own business, and her own house in which she lives with her boyfriend Eric, and his two younger brothers. When the principal of her private school finds out that Sophie is living with another student, she sends her to live with one of the teachers until she graduates.
This book is Sargam's debut novel, which is why it pains me to give this book such a low review. However, I always give honest reviews so I have no choice. This book is hard to understand, and the story is overall unrealistic. There is no way a 17 year old minor can live with her boyfriend on her own and own a business without someone from the law noticing her. The story is too rushed, and the book is mostly composed of cheesy sex scenes. I gave this book one star, Even though I finished it, it overall was not a good read.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
Steig Larsson
So for the slay that series read-a-thon, i was going to read the entire millennium series, but i couldn't even finish this book, so that was a bust. The girl with the dragon tattoo tells the story of Swedish reported Mikeal Blomvkist, who has got himself into a lawsuit for publishing false stories about a powerful businessman. In order to get the heat off of himself, he takes a job on Hedeby Island under Henrik Vanger, who wants him to find out what happened to his missing niece.
Everyone told me about the trigger warnings in this book, but I never thought it would be that bad. I was wrong. Reader beware, there is a lot of rape in this book. it's absolutely disgusting. I really only felt two emotions while reading this book, and those were disgust and boredom. The book would talk for pages about business ventures that I didn't care about, and then a horrific rape scene would just come out of nowhere. The ending also angered me to no end. I wont spoil it, but it's horrible. I wouldn't reccommened this book to anyone, and I only gave it two out of five stars because the character Lisbeth Salander is my queen. Other than that, I see no redeeming qualities to this book.
As a little disclaimer, since I this is the first book I've given a negative review of one here, these reviews are strictly my opinions. Some people may really like this book, and that is okay.
Thanks for reading another on of my reviews, I'll see you guys later with more
