Toni Morrison
4 Stars
"In that place, where they tore the nightshade and blackberry patches from their roots to make room for the Mediallion City golfcourse, there was once a neighborhood." - Toni Morrison, Sula
Sula follows a girl named Nel, and her best friend Sula. Sula grows up with Nel but moves away for ten years to go to college. She comes back and wrecks havoc in the town, making everyone in town resent her, including Nel.
This is the first of Toni Morrison I've read, and I absolutley love her writing style. She writes with a poetic flow and this book really makes you think about life and why people think the way they do. I gave this book an overall of 4/5 stars, I really reccommend it for everyone who enjoys Morrison's writing or literature about small towns. The quality of writing, plot development, and characters are what really stand out in this book. Really my synopsis did not give the book justice. It's so complex that you really must read it in order to understand. So go read it!
Thanks for reading another one of my reviews! Tune in next time when I discuss Blood Brothers by Colleen Nelson!
