Books I'm excited for in May, 2016

Hello Internet!

These are the books coming out this month that are worth noticing for me.

  • A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (May 3rd)
    • The sequel to a court of thorns and roses, I'm stoked for this book. I loved the first one and can't wait to see more of dreamy boys and vicious battles. Also, this book is thick, so that's just more time in the spring court for me.
  • The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh (May 3rd)
    • The sequel to the wrath and the dawn, this book is based on 1000 Arabian nights, and features war and action and sacrifice. Not to mention strong female characters.
  • The Last Star by Rick Yancey (May 24th)
    • The final installment of the fifth wave. This book isn't really on my TBR, but its such a big series I thought I would mention it.
  • The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordian (May 3rd)
    • A new series by legendary author Rick Riordian, whose books most often feature Greek legends and myths, this book is high on everyone's radar.
  • The Crown by Kiera Cass (May 3rd)
    • The fifth book of the selection series. The entire series is on my TBR, but I thought I would include this one because its such a popular series and the cover is so so pretty (My favorite color is purple)

That's it for my radar! I'll see you next month with more books! What books are on your TBR this month? Comment below!

Until next time, keep on reading dreamers!

Some Changes....

Hello Internet!

As you probably know, I have a small YouTube channel where I talk about books. Unfortunately, the channel makes me feel swamped, and I barely have the time or tools to make quality content for you to enjoy. Because I want to give you a variety of professional looking content, I have decided to stop my YouTube channel and focus on my social media as well as blog content. Because of this I will be able to add more variety to the blog, including:

  • Monthly wrap ups
  • Monthly book releases
  • Bookworm news and updates
  • Giveaways???

I'm sorry to see my small YouTube career go, but I am happy to start this new chapter and I hope this new change pleases you all.

I will try to get an RSS feed/email list going so you all can see when I post. Until then, check for updates on my Twitter. All my social media links are in my About me page

Thank you so much for reading, and I'll see you guys soon!

Sophie (1/5)

Sophie
Jennie Sargam

I received a free reviewers copy of this book from netgalley.com. Thanks to LuLu Publishing and Jennie Sargam.

Sophie is a YA book about a high school senior named Sophie. Sophie is no ordinary high school senior however, because Sophie owns her own business, and her own house in which she lives with her boyfriend Eric, and his two younger brothers. When the principal of her private school finds out that Sophie is living with another student, she sends her to live with one of the teachers until she graduates.

This book is Sargam's debut novel, which is why it pains me to give this book such a low review. However, I always give honest reviews so I have no choice. This book is hard to understand, and the story is overall unrealistic. There is no way a 17 year old minor can live with her boyfriend on her own and own a business without someone from the law noticing her. The story is too rushed, and the book is mostly composed of cheesy sex scenes. I gave this book one star, Even though I finished it, it overall was not a good read.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
Steig Larsson

So for the slay that series read-a-thon, i was going to read the entire millennium series, but i couldn't even finish this book, so that was a bust. The girl with the dragon tattoo tells the story of Swedish reported Mikeal Blomvkist, who has got himself into a lawsuit for publishing false stories about a powerful businessman. In order to get the heat off of himself, he takes a job on Hedeby Island under Henrik Vanger, who wants him to find out what happened to his missing niece.

Everyone told me about the trigger warnings in this book, but I never thought it would be that bad. I was wrong. Reader beware, there is a lot of rape in this book. it's absolutely disgusting. I really only felt two emotions while reading this book, and those were disgust and boredom. The book would talk for pages about business ventures that I didn't care about, and then a horrific rape scene would just come out of nowhere. The ending also angered me to no end. I wont spoil it, but it's horrible. I wouldn't reccommened this book to anyone, and I only gave it two out of five stars because the character Lisbeth Salander is my queen. Other than that, I see no redeeming qualities to this book.

As a little disclaimer, since I this is the first book I've given a negative review of one here, these reviews are strictly my opinions. Some people may really like this book, and that is okay.

Thanks for reading another on of my reviews, I'll see you guys later with more

 Cruel Crown
Victoria Aveyard

THIS REVIEW HAS SPOILERS FROM RED QUEEN. PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ RED QUEEN. THANKS!

Cruel Crown is a collection of two prequel novellas to Red Queen. Since there are two novellas, I will review them separately.

Queen Song

Queen Song tells the story of the late Queen Coraine Jacos, mother of Cal and brother of Julian. Coraine falls in love with Prince Tiberias the fifth and marries him for love instead of performing in the Queenstrial. Corraine is sadly tortured to suicide by Elara Merandus at the end. This story was fantastic, I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I loved hearing about the high courts and I loved seeing more of Corraines story and how she was so much like Cal.

Steel Scars

Steel Scars is the story of Captain Farley's trip to Norta and setting up roots for the Scarlet Guard. Farley meets a young solider named Shade <3 who has a strange power. I gave this a 3 out of 5 stars because it was not as exciting. It showed the other sides of the story of Red Queen, but there really wasn't much to show. It was almost exactly what was given to us about the Scarlet Guard in Red Queen and Glass Sword.
