 Cruel Crown
Victoria Aveyard

THIS REVIEW HAS SPOILERS FROM RED QUEEN. PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ RED QUEEN. THANKS!

Cruel Crown is a collection of two prequel novellas to Red Queen. Since there are two novellas, I will review them separately.

Queen Song

Queen Song tells the story of the late Queen Coraine Jacos, mother of Cal and brother of Julian. Coraine falls in love with Prince Tiberias the fifth and marries him for love instead of performing in the Queenstrial. Corraine is sadly tortured to suicide by Elara Merandus at the end. This story was fantastic, I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I loved hearing about the high courts and I loved seeing more of Corraines story and how she was so much like Cal.

Steel Scars

Steel Scars is the story of Captain Farley's trip to Norta and setting up roots for the Scarlet Guard. Farley meets a young solider named Shade <3 who has a strange power. I gave this a 3 out of 5 stars because it was not as exciting. It showed the other sides of the story of Red Queen, but there really wasn't much to show. It was almost exactly what was given to us about the Scarlet Guard in Red Queen and Glass Sword.
